Kim Campbell Thornton has been writing about dogs and cats for more than 20 years. She is the award-winning author of more than two dozen books and hundreds of articles on pet care, health and behavior for a variety of outlets, including the monthly Creature Comforts column for MSNBC.com. Her most recent book is The Everything Dog Health Book, coauthored with veterinarian Deb Eldredge. Kim is past president of the Cat Writers Association and its current vice president and is a longtime member of the Dog Writers Association of America. In her spare time she blogs for PetConnection and DogCars.com. She shares her home with three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, an African ringneck parakeet and a husband of 27 years. She and her husband, Jerry, founded the Darcy Fund in 2006 after losing their 6-year-old Cavalier Darcy to congestive heart failure caused by mitral valve disease. Managed by the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club Charitable Trust, the Darcy Fund has raised more than $16,000 for research on the disease and is currently helping to fund three studies.
